Stephen Eberle is many things of late, but for Lux Mundi he is wearing his favorite hat, that of an Animator. The footage seen in the windows across the Fire Fly Lounge is an animation created by a process known as "Direct Animation" or in layman terms, "Animation drawn, scratched, painted and applied directly to film stock by means other than with a camera". This particular animation is titled, "Behind the Line" and was originally created for the University of Michigan, Electronic Music Mirco Festival in 2001. The film "Behind the Line," was inspired by railways and the linear nature of the experience.

Stephen Eberle has been animating in Ann Arbor for several years now. His latest works include the animation and collaboration with musicians Greg Layman and Chris Peck, "Into The Flames Walk, I" (2001) and video projections for the arts installation "Tree Tracks: Branching Beyond the Disciplinary." (2000)

When Steve Eberle is not performing his role as a Domestic Engineer for his nine-month-old son Kepler and wife Marka, he works as a Video Engineer and Studio Tech for the Media Union at the University of Michigan where he helps students and faculty with their own installations, performances and video productions.
